Almost like Christmas eve!

Tomorrow is the first day of school in our home.  Sunshine is starting eighth grade and Belle is starting fourth grade.  It's quite unbelievable, honestly.  We started homeschooling when Sunshine was in 3rd grade.  It has been a huge learning experience for all of us.  I think every single year we start out with a different approach or strategy.

One thing that we started doing a couple of years back was a "Meet the Teacher" night.  Of course, the kids know their teacher (ta-da!) but they love looking over the books and materials I've been collecting.
Covering their eyes, about to walk into the classroom/library to check out their learning materials.
They were so anxious to check out their new materials tonight.  It was almost like Christmas eve.  I love that they're excited about learning and discovering new things.  It should be a fun year!

Sunshine's classes:
Algebra
US History
English
World Geography
Physics Workshop
Vet Science
Earth Science
Latin
Art
Electives: Astronomy, Chess

Belle's classes:
Math
Texas History
English
Geography
Life Science
Latin
Art
Electives:  Needlework, Electronics workshop

The best news (in my opinion) is that Daddio is teaching several of the electives (chess, electronics, astronomy).  Another great thing is that the girls really will be involved in each other's elective classes, but they were each allowed to choose a couple of things from our long list of topics.

Belle digging through her books.

Sunshine discovering the chess book Daddio has been reading.

A *One Direction* journal?  Yep, we're the coolest parents ever!  HA!

Sunshine was not impressed after I suggested we skip sleep and get right to work.  :)

It's going to be a great year.  I feel so fortunate to travel this path with our kids.  We are all learning so much!

I love the idea of meet the teacher night! I always get excited to pull out all of our new stuff when we start school :)
There is just something about new books and school supplies that makes me happy.
