Midsummer...in the fall!

As part of our study of the American Girl, Kirsten, we learned about midsummer celebrations in Sweden.  However, instead of doing this activity midsummer, we did it in mid-October.  Homeschooling rebels, yes we are!  :)

Actually, I used this opportunity to remind the girls of our May Day celebration with other homeschooling friends, we talked about similarities between that and the midsummer celebration.  And then we made fall wreaths.  They had fun arranging the flowers and gluing them in place, and now their rooms are decorated with just a touch of fall.

Belle was especially excited to teach Sunshine something she learned at another activity...she learned how to disassemble the artificial flowers and then mix and match the petals/pieces.  Their wreaths are really cute!
